Analisa Kemacetan Lalu Lintas Di Jalan Raya Cimalaka Kabupaten Sumedang

Traffic congestion is a significant transportation problem, especially in urban areas such as Jalan Raya Cimalaka, Sumedang Regency. This study aims to analyze the contributing factors to traffic congestion and evaluate road performance based on the Indonesian Highway Capacity Manual (MKJI) 1997. Data were collected through field surveys conducted over three days during peak hours, focusing on traffic volume, side friction, free flow speed, and road capacity. The analysis showed that the highest traffic volume occurred on Sunday at 16:00–17:00 with 1,633 pcu/hour and a degree of saturation (DS) of 0.805. Side friction was also high at 548 events/hour, while the free flow speed for light vehicles was only 33.3 km/h. The main causes of congestion include illegal parking, pedestrian activity, and vehicles entering and exiting adjacent land uses. The study recommends short-term solutions such as parking regulation and improved traffic management.
